Every day, project managers make decisions. In most cases, project leaders have to lead the team to create important decisions to achieve different project goals. Making decisions for the group does not rely only on the decision of one individual. In most cases, project managers need to exercise democracy within the team by getting the team involved in every decision that needs to be made. There are different group decision-making techniques that are used to assess the processes in order to achieve the expected outcome.

There are basically four types of group decision-making techniques used in project management and one of the most common ones employed is the majority. The majority is used when a decision has obtained support from more than 50% of the members of the project team. However, to make this particular group making decision technique, the group needs to have an uneven number of participants to ensure that the decision of the majority will be achieved. Otherwise, it will only result in a tie and no consensus will be reached. This decision is usually reached when the team members do not arrive at a consensus so they vote to create the final decision.
