Projects introduce new systems, processes, technologies, organizational structures, and ways of working. Delivering these project outputs is only part of achieving business success. Organizations must also prepare employees, support adoption, and ensure new ways of working become established.
Change Management for Project Teams is a practical two-day workshop designed for project managers, project team members, PMO professionals, business representatives, and change-support personnel responsible for implementing change through projects.
The course connects project management with the human side of organizational change.
On Day 1, participants explore how individuals experience change, why resistance occurs, and how people adapt to new responsibilities, systems, and workplace expectations.
On Day 2, participants learn how to integrate change management activities into the project lifecycle, assess organizational impacts, engage stakeholders, evaluate readiness, and plan communication, training, implementation support, and sustainment.
Through realistic workplace scenarios, group simulations, structured templates, and a continuing project case study, participants develop a practical Change Canvas covering the key activities required to support successful change adoption.
The workshop concludes with a team-based Change Canvas presentation and a 30-60-90 day action plan.
Course Positioning
This course addresses two connected responsibilities:
Day 1: Understanding and Responding to Change
Understanding the experience of people affected by organizational change.
Day 2: Planning and Leading Change in Projects
Helping project teams prepare affected stakeholders, support adoption, and sustain project outcomes.
The course distinguishes between:
- Project-driven change: New capabilities, systems, processes, and outcomes introduced through projects.
- Transitional change: The psychological and behavioral adjustments people experience when moving from existing to new ways of working.
- Organizational change: The broader adoption of new structures, processes, responsibilities, and working practices.
- Project change control: The formal management of proposed modifications to project scope, schedule, cost, and other approved baselines.
Project change control and people-side change management are related but serve different purposes.
