There are two components within the Cost of Quality of a project management and non conformance work is one of them. Non conformance work refers to the work done to fix the consequences of failures and errors in doing the activities during the first attempt.  In an efficient quality management system, non conformance work should approach zero.

The occurrence of failure really happens on the first attempt. For instance, when project managers build a product or service, they need a certain amount of cost and tasks to fix the failure involved in a particular project.

It is important to take note that the nonconformance work as implications on the status of the project. The aspects of project management that are affected by the nonconformance work includes the scope, time, and cost.

The project manager should document all the types of work that is needed to fix the consequences of errors. Since the errors will affect the life cycle of the project, the time extended should be accounted for in the schedule. Lastly, the time resource should also be equal to the monetary amount used in fixing the failure.
