Checking the quality of the deliverable is necessary for every project. In project management, checking the quality is the responsibility of the Control Quality process of monitoring and recording the quality of the product. Under this element is the quality checklists.
As the name implies, quality checklists refer to structured tools used in order to verify the set of required steps that has already been performed. The checklist can be simple or complex depending on the requirements and practices of the project.
Most organizations follow a standard checklist that have already been made available to the project team to ensure that there is consistency in the tasks performed by the project team. In some areas, the quality checklists are also available from commercial service providers or associations thus making it easier for the project management team to check if their deliverables have met the standards of the market.
Lastly, the quality checklists should also include an acceptance criterion to ensure that the deliverable are still within the quality range. The checklist should be included in the scope baseline.
